When I began this blog a couple years ago I used to do a Tuesday Ten. Tuesday Ten usually was just a list of 10 random things and, honestly, at this moment in time I can’t recall a single thing I ever wrote about. Actually, that’s probably for the best. But today the Tuesday Ten is back and better than it ever was! Try to contain your excitement because today we are talking about my fall wardrobe essentials.
By now any reader of this trusty blog knows my style is fairly simple and classic so it’s no surprise these fall essentials are as well. I finally made the plunge and bought the Sam & Libby boots featured here and I am obsessed with them. Are they booties? Boots? Who knows. I wore them this past weekend on a night out (where I sang terrible karaoke with my Bezzie) and not once did I complain about wearing heels or discomfort. I am making progress people! I can’t wait for the weather to cool down a bit more. Seriously hearing the words warming trend on the nightly news is the saddest thing in the world. I just can’t wait to wear my sweaters. I will never give up my love of sweaters. School is in session which means my cute purses get minimal use since I have to lug tons and tons of junk around with me on the daily so I LOVE giant tote bags. The one I’m currently using is similar to this one from Urban Outfitters.
ONE: H&M Superstretch Trousers TWO: Sam & Libby Ankle Booties THREE: Mango Shift Dress FOUR: Topshop Slouchy Sweater FIVE: Zara Short Coat SIX: Frye Harvey Tote Bag SEVEN: Modcloth Scouting Top EIGHT: Zara 3/4 Sleeve tee NINE: New Look Denim Jacket TEN: Gap Beanie
For as long as I can remember Halloween has been a big deal in my family. Not only for trick or treating, but for every little aspect of the holiday. Is it a holiday? I don’t even know. My family embraces all of it; horror movie marathons, fun size candy bars, and, most importantly, scaring the daylights out of each other with hidden decorations and popping out of dark rooms with masks on. Seriously, I’ll never forget my dad jumping out of the hallway in an ape mask. I cried for 3 days I’m positive.
Every year I make a playlist and this year is no exception. They usually end up containing the same songs because, hey, a classic is a classic, right? But this year I decided just to cut to the chase and make a playlist of the cheesiest, cliche, and greatest Halloween songs. It’s perfect for a party situation or maybe just handing out treats to kids with grubby little hands who feel entirely entitled to candy you purchased with your adult money.
Tracklist and links are below. I also included links to all previous years mixes I made public. Hopefully something floats your boat.
Anyone who knows me can tell you my handbag is a complete disaster. A million Starbucks straw wrappers, unnesessary recipts, movie ticket stubs, and a pleathora of spare coins. When a new semester starts and I switch from bag to bag I try to maintain a certain standard of cleanliness which ultimately a week later fails miserably. So this week for the final installment of Back to Class we are gonna take a look at the things I carry with my in my bag on the daily.
There’s loads of expected things: my keys, my computer, my phone charger, and of course, a snack. I literally have no break this semester. But then there’s the other things that make me super special. Just kidding. They are kind of essential to school life.

Okay so maybe this post has nothing to do with the classic Charlie Brown television special. But it does have to do with something pretty wonderful: pumpkin. In the past few weeks not only has a plethora of pumpkin and Oktoberfest flavored beers hit store shelves, but Starbucks announced the beloved pumpkin spice latte would be hitting stores on Monday, August 25th. Then just yesterday on my morning commute I heard there just may be pumpkin spice Oreos in the works. Say it isn’t so! Actually…that sounds kind of delicious. Way more delicious than the caramel apple ones that recently hit shelves at Target.
All of this pumpkin business got me thinking: what else can I make with pumpkin? Every year I make my favorite pumpkin chili. I’ve made pumpkin spice pancakes and even pumpkin brownies. In need of fresh ideas I headed over to Pinterest in search of some things yummy enough to make it feel like fall is here.
Savory: Pumpkin gnocchi / Creamy pumpkin pasta with parmesan & sage
I’ve never dared to make my own gnocchi, but, for some reason, I really, really want to try this one.
Sweet: Pumpkin bread with struesel topping / Pumpkin spice Rice Krispie treats
I made a similar pumpkin bread with streusel topping once before for a class project. It was fairly delicious and I’m quite the sucker for a streusel topping…
Drinkable: The Jack-O-Lantern Cocktail / Clean Eating pumpkin spice latte
The tried and true classic pumpkin spice latte. A fall staple for nearly everyone. I’ve made them at home just once, but I couldn’t pass up this recipe when I saw it. I can’t wait to give it a try…when it cools down just a bit more.
