2014 Year In Review

Screen Shot 2014-12-27 at 9.05.31 AM

Bet you were expecting a Weekender today, eh? Unfortunately it seems as though everything is a year end review post (other than Beyoncé’s dad having a yard sale) so I thought I would just end the year the same way. So along with nearly everyone else in the world, for the next few days I’ll be sharing my favorite things from this year. I’m talking albums of the year, the great year end survey, & even the final playlist of the year. Very exciting, isn’t it?

Today I’m taking a look at some of my favorite posts from the blog this year. This blog has grown a bit in the last year, and unfortunately I lost my will and was quite uninspired for awhile. I’ve tried some new things such as OOTD posts and even sharing more of my very interesting personality rather than try to maintain some normal standard. I don’t even know what I’m trying to say here, but what I do know is I’m not even a little sorry for how much One Direction was involved. I truly hope to write more posts next year rather than just posting collections of things. I do like writing I just sometimes don’t feel as confident with it. It’s just not a crowdpleaser really. But I won’t ramble any longer, here’s my favorite posts from this year.

The Weekender: 13 December

The Weekender: 8 November

The Weekender: 11 October

Nothing new in the way of personal bits this week. I think I covered most of it yesterday, so on to the links! Have a great weekend. Catch you Monday with a whole new week of style, music, and general musings! Maybe even a product review or two!

Noteworthy 005

It’s Friday and normally I would be sharing some of my favorite things, but today I decided to share a whole bunch of things. A whole bunch of things worth knowing about right now.

    • Snack On: It’s hard to snack healthy being so busy with school and life, but my latest snack obsession is Simple Truth roasted almonds with sea salt. Picked them up randomly in the grocery store the other day and I can’t stop rushing to them when I’m hungry. Maybe it’s time to try some roasted almond and sea salt dark chocolate bark?
    • Listen to: It’s the most wonderful time of the year….yes, One Direction is about to release a new album (November 17th for those who don’t know), but before then it’s new single time. Hear a snippet of their new single, Steal My Girl, over on Soundcloud now. Not only is that available but so is a snippet of the Big Payno Afterhrs Pool Party remix which comes on the single available, in full, on Monday! I can’t wait to hear the full version.
    • Wear: Time for my new favorite seasonal Essie color Dressed to Kilt
    • Jealous of: Kirsten Dunst’s Soho loft is beautiful. The kitchen is so well designed. I love the brick everyhere. I wish I could live in a place this nice. See more over at Because I’m Addicted
    • Choose between: Ah, engagement parties. Time to act like an adult and celebrate love. Too bad it’s hard to decide what dress to wear. I like both of these and obviously this H&M lace dressis far more budget friendly than the Alice + Olivia Amor dress.
    • Excited for:Browsing my instagram feed the other day I noticed this photo from Suja Juice. Holiday flavors? Yes please! I’m a bit apprehensive about trying them but maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised?

The Weekender: 20 September

‘Ello, all and happy weekend! Not too much to talk about in the way of personal bits this week. Still trying to get back into the swing of things. I’m not a big fan of the whole “get ahead but then fall behind” thing that is currently happening to my life, but in the grander scheme of things having fun was far more important. Those times are so few and far between lately. I’ll take them when I can get them.

The Weekender: 30 August

So personal bits for the week: a never ending circle of crazy. It feels like I never slowed down this week. From sun up to sun down just go, go, go. I could definitely use a bit of break. Getting back into the swing of things with classes being back in session is a bit rough. It’s Labor Day weekend! The unofficial end of summer has finally arrived. Time to get excited about finally being able to wear my favorite clothes and not look absolutely crazy. Unfortunately I guess that means surviving this weekend with 110+ temperatures. Gross. This weekend is going to be fun and filled with BBQs, birthday celebrations, and (hopefully) at least one hour of Great British Bake Off.

The Weekender: 23 August

Queue up the NFL intro tunes because tonight I am participating in my first ever NFL fantasy draft. I’m an avid watcher of the FX show, The League, but now the time has come for me to fully join a league of my own. Unfortunately, I still have no idea what I am doing. It’s one thing to talk stats round the brunch table with friends, but it’s a whole different world now. But I’m going to give it a go because if Hilary Duff ever taught me anything in life it is, “why not?” I just might surprise myself.

The Weekender: 16 August

I don’t have very much to say in the way of personal bits this week. I’ve been fairly tame and boring. I did have a bit of an episode with a jumping spider just yesterday, and I must admit, jumping spiders are literally the worst things in the world. I don’t even know why they exist. It scampered off and I haven’t seen it since. I get the jitters just thinking about it being somewhere in my dwelling just waiting to attack again. Gross…

Back to School: Apartment Essentials

Continuing on with the back to school theme this month, I’m talking about apartment essentials today. Sure, most of these things are also quite suitable for dorm living, but I know nothing about that. I have never lived in a dorm. Nearly every friend I have lived in one at some point. My sister even lived in them. I visited plenty of times and I learned one thing: it’s definitely not for me. Hey, my sister had to have stitches on her eye after being hit with an empty chewing tobacco can someone was using as a hockey puck. Also, they NEVER used a vacuum which really bothered me.

I’m much more suited for apartment living (for the most part) so these are the things that are pretty essential to that living situation. Everyone knows you need sheets, towels, etc. So those are noticeably missing. These additions include, as mentioned previously, a vacuum because there’s no excuse. You’re an adult now. And a toothbrush holder for the same reason. The only reason not to use a toothbrush holder is if your toothbrush is electric/sings/or has another reason for not fitting in the holder!

Art Prints: London & Solitude / Message Board from IKEA / Dyson DC40 Upright Vacuum / 12 piece dinnerware set / Tea bag tidy / Krups 12 Cup coffee maker & Brooklyn Nets mug from Target

Alarm dock / Abstract bath mat / Milk Bottle toothbrush holder / Shower curtain / Mondrian Storage Boxes / Laundry basket
