Here it is, the very first Weekender of 2015. There really wasn’t much in the way of interesting news this week with the New Year rolling in, but I managed to find some fairly interesting tidbits to share.
Coming up with ideas for blog posts is fun and sometimes as simple as online shopping. I do it a lot throughout the year as any reader of of this blog knows. Yet, when Christmas rolls around I have zero idea what to say when someone asks me what I’m wishing for. Maybe that’s because I can think of so many other people who truly need things I don’t and I just constantly draw a blank. I should probably just start handing out links to this blog and saying have at it, there’s years worth of products, clothes, and ideas at the taking when it comes to gifts on there.
Today I managed to come up with a list of things I really would love to find under my tree this Christmas. A typical mixture of girl centric things but things I could really use.
I’m starting to realize 5 is slowly becoming the new theme of this blog. I just really like that number lately. I’m feeling a bit burnt out lately. I’m not entirely sure if that’s just the hectic nature of my life kicking in or just not feeling at all like things matter in the larger scheme of things. Whoa…getting deep there, yea? Okay maybe that’s just some pent up aggression caused by burning myself on my coffee pot this morning added to my multivitamins current crusade to ruin my life. I mean who said being healthy would be like a great thing? I might as well just join Goop’s pre-holiday no fun food cleanse.*
1. Took the night off last night to participate in my fall ritual and watch You’ve Got Mail. I still don’t believe anyone’s dial up AOL was THAT fast, but then again they didn’t have a family filled with people trying to make and receive phone calls.
2. My nail color of choice this week: Carry On, Essie, $8.50
3. Favorite Things Holiday Cards, Rifle Paper Co., $16 for 8 cards
4. Don’t Drake and Drive sweatshirt, Supermuse, $47.99
5. Steal My Girl Acoustic – One Direction
*I’m just assuming the cleanse is no fun. It’s probably really good for you.
Nothing new in the way of personal bits this week. I think I covered most of it yesterday, so on to the links! Have a great weekend. Catch you Monday with a whole new week of style, music, and general musings! Maybe even a product review or two!
Another week bites the dust and it’s time for personal bits. I feel like all I can comment on is how busy my weeks are becoming. I mean who schedules all their tests for the same day? Apparently every professor I have this semester. But Monday was a pretty great break from the normal. My bestie and I spent plenty of the morning dutifully annoying our local KISS FM station about playing the new One Direction single. Now, yes, I am in my twenties and that seems like such a 14 year old thing to be doing, but to be fair it was over Twitter and the song deserves to be played. I stand by one thing, good music, despite the countless claims they stole the piano intro. just to comment on that: it sounds most like Faithfully by Journey which is also a great song. But moving on….
It feels so strange to type September up there in the title. That means my favorite season, fall, is just round the corner!!! I feel like I talk a lot about the weather on here…probably just out of awkwardness. I’m just excited for it not to be 100+ degrees on my mile long walks to class. (Hopefully people just stop going to class soon and I can park closer, ha) And well, my mostly black wardrobe will be less of a chore. I’m a little nervous for tomorrow’s football games. It’s a bit of a nervous excitement. What used to be just me screaming at my team is now just going to be me screaming at players on my fantasy roster and obsessing over halftime stats. I don’t want to jinx anything…
Queue up the NFL intro tunes because tonight I am participating in my first ever NFL fantasy draft. I’m an avid watcher of the FX show, The League, but now the time has come for me to fully join a league of my own. Unfortunately, I still have no idea what I am doing. It’s one thing to talk stats round the brunch table with friends, but it’s a whole different world now. But I’m going to give it a go because if Hilary Duff ever taught me anything in life it is, “why not?” I just might surprise myself.
Doctor Who series 9 starts tonight on BBC America, so there’s an extremely scientific quiz to find out Which Doctor Are You? I’m the child-like 11th Doctor.
