The Weekender: 27 September

This week has been one hectic mess. It felt as though I barely slept or stopped moving. I’ve been studying up a storm which is never fun. It’s a stormy Saturday outside and they ever so non-chalantly said “be aware there could be isolated tornados.” Yes, in Arizona. As if that’s a thing Arizonans are used to hearing and should not at all be concerned with. I mean it probably isn’t going to be Twister-esque outside suddenly but I’m not a big fan of funnel clouds in the sky. I’ve seen a few of those here in my lifetime and they are constantly unsettling.

Noteworthy 005

It’s Friday and normally I would be sharing some of my favorite things, but today I decided to share a whole bunch of things. A whole bunch of things worth knowing about right now.

    • Snack On: It’s hard to snack healthy being so busy with school and life, but my latest snack obsession is Simple Truth roasted almonds with sea salt. Picked them up randomly in the grocery store the other day and I can’t stop rushing to them when I’m hungry. Maybe it’s time to try some roasted almond and sea salt dark chocolate bark?
    • Listen to: It’s the most wonderful time of the year….yes, One Direction is about to release a new album (November 17th for those who don’t know), but before then it’s new single time. Hear a snippet of their new single, Steal My Girl, over on Soundcloud now. Not only is that available but so is a snippet of the Big Payno Afterhrs Pool Party remix which comes on the single available, in full, on Monday! I can’t wait to hear the full version.
    • Wear: Time for my new favorite seasonal Essie color Dressed to Kilt
    • Jealous of: Kirsten Dunst’s Soho loft is beautiful. The kitchen is so well designed. I love the brick everyhere. I wish I could live in a place this nice. See more over at Because I’m Addicted
    • Choose between: Ah, engagement parties. Time to act like an adult and celebrate love. Too bad it’s hard to decide what dress to wear. I like both of these and obviously this H&M lace dressis far more budget friendly than the Alice + Olivia Amor dress.
    • Excited for:Browsing my instagram feed the other day I noticed this photo from Suja Juice. Holiday flavors? Yes please! I’m a bit apprehensive about trying them but maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised?

September Mix: Turn Down for WWAT

Processed with VSCOcam with c2 preset

I didn’t really have a solid theme for September’s mix. I went back and forth between just what I’ve been listening to a lot lately and just not doing one at all. Not that posting a mix really matters all that much to begin with. So what ended up being this months mix? A mixture. Some songs I had in current rotation so far this month and the other songs came from my weekend spend at Where We Are Tour. Before and in between acts they played plenty of tunes crossing a few genres. Some of them just stuck with me and ended up on this mix. Pictured above is one of my photos from one of the nights at the Rose Bowl before it filled to capacity with screaming girls and I went partially deaf. I wouldn’t have changed it for the world. My ears still hurt when I hear Midnight Memories.

The Weekender: 20 September

‘Ello, all and happy weekend! Not too much to talk about in the way of personal bits this week. Still trying to get back into the swing of things. I’m not a big fan of the whole “get ahead but then fall behind” thing that is currently happening to my life, but in the grander scheme of things having fun was far more important. Those times are so few and far between lately. I’ll take them when I can get them.

Friday Five: OOTD

Ah, I have returned from my hectic and crazy break. Truth be told, I spent some time roadtripping with my best friend to see a few One Direction shows in California and their epic show here in Phoenix. I can’t lie, and I’ve lost all chill, it was an amazing few days. I seriously wish I could finish out the rest of the American shows but you know, real life calls.

So for today’s Friday Five I’m sharing my favorite outfits over the past week. Many of which I wore to the shows. I honestly can’t believe it was 100 degrees one day rendering my sweet leather jacket no longer wearable. Ugh! The break was fun but now it’s time to get back on track. So (hopefully) enjoy the style inspiration. Sorry, I’m just really obsessed with my black jeans lately…

Outfit 1: Topshop tank top, H&M biker jacket, H&M bra, H&M black skinny jeans, Guess wristlet, Target ballet flats, Ray-Ban aviators

Outfit 2: Topshop black tank, Ray-Ban aviators, H&M lace bra, Rag & Bone black jeans, Target ballet flats, Guess wristlet

Outfit 3: H&M blouse, Ray-Ban aviators, Guess wristlet, J. Crew skinny pant, Target flats

Outfit 4 (Trip Home): Ray-Ban aviators, American Apparel tote bag, Mango sandals, One Direction tour tee , H&M skinny jeans

Outfit 5: Monki Lola bra, Topshop cape blouse, Marc Jacobs wallet, Warby Parker glasses, Target ballet flats, H&M black skinny jeans

Hers/Mine: Trench Coat

Please forgive this hastily thrown together image. I just really became frustrated and that’s that. On to the more important things: The Everlane Swing Trench. I was perusing my Instagram feed just the other day when I saw Everlane had posted this photo and I thought to myself what a great outfit. Not to mention what a stylish and classic looking coat. So for the purposes of this post, I put together how I might wear this look. I absolutely used the basics for style inspiration but changed it a bit to cater more to myself. I can’t go without mentioning the new fall Essie line is out and I’m slightly obsessed with Dressed to Kilt which is why it’s also featured in this look alongside Fudge Urban’s Festival Pink hair chalk. Hair chalk is honestly the easiest way to achieve the pink ends featured on the model and the beauty is Fudge Urban’s hair chalks even work on darker colored hair. I know, that’s pretty great for those trying a no-commitment hair color change.

Shop the look: Everlane Navy swing trench, Paige Denim white button down, Topshop bleached moto jeans, Vans Lo-Pro sneakers, Marc Jacobs handbag, Fudge Urban hair chalks, Essie Dressed to Kilt

Oh, and before I forget, the blog is going to take a bit of a hiatus. It’s only a short time! Time to escape the crazy Arizona weather and head to sunny and blissfully comfortable Los Angeles for a few days! I’ll catch you on the flip side but as always you can follow my adventures on Instagram and Twitter! See you next week!

#OOTD: Rain, Rain Go Away

Today Phoenix broke it’s all time rain record and practically shut down the entire city. There were still daring people like myself who ventured out into the wet streets for necessity rather than entertainment, but that was few and far between. Eventually the sun came out, schools were closed, and I had to plan a whole new outfit of the day. So here’s some rainy day style inspiration.

ONE: Alexander Wang striped sweater TWO: Umbrella THREE: H&M skinny jeans FOUR: Forever 21 bag FIVE: Hunter tall wellies

The Weekender: 6 September

It feels so strange to type September up there in the title. That means my favorite season, fall, is just round the corner!!! I feel like I talk a lot about the weather on here…probably just out of awkwardness. I’m just excited for it not to be 100+ degrees on my mile long walks to class. (Hopefully people just stop going to class soon and I can park closer, ha) And well, my mostly black wardrobe will be less of a chore. I’m a little nervous for tomorrow’s football games. It’s a bit of a nervous excitement. What used to be just me screaming at my team is now just going to be me screaming at players on my fantasy roster and obsessing over halftime stats. I don’t want to jinx anything…

Friday 5: Are you ready for some football?

Oh, Taco.

Football season began just last night, and it feels a bit like Christmas. Time to spend loads of Sundays/Mondays/Thursdays huddled around the television watching games, Tuesdays tinkering with fantasy football teams, and pretty much every other day of the week worshiping to the football gods for a win. It also brings the start of one of the best shows on television, The League. Sorry for the GIF spoiler. Too bad.

Along with all the footballing action (and fantasy football stress) comes snacking. So for today’s Friday 5 may I present 5 Sunday game day appropriate foods because potato chips really aren’t even that great, guys.

Noteworthy 004

This edition of Noteworthy contains things I’m mostly looking forward to this month.

  • I know it’s still 109 out, but I honestly can’t wait to for sweater and jacket weather. Right now I just really want (and my bezzie stylist) suggested I need a leather jacket. Right now I’m deciding between one from H&M and one from Mango, and leaning towards the H&M one.
  • Pumpkin Spice Latte is back at Starbucks! I must admit it’s been out a week and I’ve already had two. I know. It is complete and utter blasphemy, but I just couldn’t resist. Pumpkin season is my favorite season!
  • Pretty excited for my friend’s engagement party this month! It’s so exciting when my friends get married. Well, except it really makes you ponder somethings about yourself you’ve never considered before. I’m so happy for both of them!
  • Last night, Lifetime aired the Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story and boy was it rivting. You know about as riveting as a trip to the dentist. Who knew the behind the scenes action of the classic 90s sitcom were so intense? To be quite honest, if the BTS action was really that intense, this movie showed none of it. Just utterly sloppy cookie cutter versions of events that didn’t really make sense in the long run. Word to the wise: Stick with the E! True Hollywood Story episode rather than watch this. Don’t believe me? Watch the trailer here
  • I love road trips and I am so, so excited to get out of town for a bit. It’s coming up so soon. Time to start prepping! LA here we come!!!!
  • Where We Are Tour…what can I possibly say about WWA? My show dates are quickly approaching. It feels like just yesterday we were buying tickets to it and now it’s finally here. What will I ever do when it is over?!
